Abstract
This paper critiques the excessive reverence for the Big Four journals, Ann. of Stat., J. Am. Stat. Assoc., Biometrika and J. Roy. Stat. Soc. B., in the statistical community, arguing that this singular evaluation criterion narrows academic perspectives and leads scholars to neglect the actual needs of the nation and society. The author proposes expanding the Big Four to the Magnificent Ten and encourages scholars to pay attention to journals and conferences in various fields to promote interdisciplinary integration. The paper also explores the impact of artificial intelligence on statistics, recognizing the unique value of statistics, and offers thoughts on the future development of statistics, such as strengthening research in experimental design and uncertainty quantification, and improving the training model of statistics talents.
