A NEW MEASURE OF UNIFORMITY——THE PRINCIPLE OF MAXIMUM SYMMETRCAL DIFFERENCE

The uniform design was proposed and a set of tables of uniform designs was computed by 2 in 1980. In this paper a new measure of uniformity, oalled the maximum symmetrical difference which is intuitive and easily understandable is suggested, and its properties are discussed. By this new measure, a table for experiments with the number of trials ＜32 is presented. Two necessary conditions for general measure of uniformity are proposed and a disoussion on some measures of uniformity is given.
