THE LIKELIHOOD RATIO APPRAISE OF THE MAXIMUM RANGE OF A REENTRANT VEHICLE （I）

When no prior information is available, the likelihood ratio statistics for testing the maximum range of a reentrant vehicle are derived. The confidence intervals based on these statistics are better than the confidence interval obtained by symmetrically trimming the tails of some non-central t-distributions. Finally, for two commonly used probability levels of the maximum range, 0.95 and, 0.99, various sample sizes and confidence levels, constant coefficients, c₁andc₂, which will be used in constructing this kind of likelihood ratio confidence intervals, are tabled.
